Genomics Girls Camp

Partners

For the GW Virginia Science & Technology Campus, academics and research blend seamlessly with community interaction. GW both prepares the region's work force and adds to it. With more than 500 faculty and staff, the Virginia Science & Technology Campus is rapidly becoming one of the region’s major employers.

Campus faculty and staff are embedded in the communities where they live. They serve as members of regional and community organizations. Campus leadership sits on several regional development boards and commissions, among them the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission, the Committee for Dulles, the Northern Virginia Community Foundation, and area chambers of commerce.

In addition to its unparalleled research partnerships, the Campus is a gateway for a range of activities that take University programs, faculty and graduate students into the community, while also bringing the community to Campus.

Science, Technology, and Engineering Day

This partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) captures students' imaginations while teaching them about career opportunities. Now going into its seventh year, 130-150 LCPS high school students spend a day annually on GW’s campus experiencing hands-on workshops designed to illustrate different areas of academic study, research, and careers in the fields of science, technology, and engineering. The event helps develop the future STEM workforce through student exposure to career opportunities, hands-on workshops and dynamic keynote speakers. MORE
